I Walk, but He Walks or You Walk
The way we conjugate verbs is evidence that it does matter. If there weren't some use for having the S or not having the S walk walks, if there were no use for that, it would have evolved away because it's just a pain to try and remember this sort of thing. So the fact that it hasn't evolved away tells me that there's some value. What is the value? I hypothesize that the value is error correction.
