Do You Need to Split Up Responsibilities?

As a researcher, I'm very comfortable holding both sides generated and evaluative. However, if you're my manager...I don't even want to introduce generative research to you or like those other types of research like journey mapping and stuff. So instead of thinking too much about what should be what, I would first start with what are the things that I want people to be doing? And is it okay to ask one person to do this?
