The Origins of Private Letters

A lot of the research came from letters that were written in mostly in British plantation societies in the Caribbean. The UK has a great network of trains, so I would find these little smaller bits of archival material at various local regional historical societies and travel around by train to look for them. Scotland was interesting because it's really not accessible by train. It's kind of in the middle of the highlands. And then also some of their smaller islands, St. Kitts, Nevis,. These letters are mostly written from these places and they're sent to friends or family or more employers in the UK and largely in England and Scotland., to a lesser extent, Scotland.
