Michael Wolraich: Cicero was one of the most reactionary figures in Rome at the time. He represented the oligarchs against the interests of the people of the workers, he says. But Western historians quote him as a legitimate source on Roman history; that's what they want us to do, too, writes Wolraich. "You cannot prevent a check on the oligarchy if you're not willing to assassinate everybody who doesn't agree with you," he adds.
