Madonna in a Fur Coat

I'm doing this project where I'm reading my way around the world in translation. My father died in early 2020 in Hungary and we weren't able to have a memorial for him, but he was a literary translator among other things. The first book I read was The Door by Magda Sabo. And it's this intense relationship between this woman and her cleaning lady. It's absolutely riveting. In many cases, just less scene based, if that makes sense,. still plenty of plot, but less kind of blow by blow filmic scene that I find thrilling.
