Politico urged journalists to embrace AI a few weeks before in February 6 with a very clickbaity Kent Brockman influenced headline why I welcome our future AI overlords now interestingly Axel Springer had been planning layoffs anyway the company announced purely coincidental on the same day of Daufner's memo February 28 that it that had cut around 300 jobs at its German publications and soon laid off a bunch of people at Insider the next month. There is no indication that anyone's actually been replaced by AI but for any high level writing it's very useless and doesn't ever cut any net labor that goes into the process of writing something.
