Reagan's Cold War Strategy - The Correlation of Forces

William Inboden: Reagan knows that his hand to confront the Soviets and negotiate with them will be a lot stronger if they see that he's backed up by his people. The American military is much stronger, more confident, better equipped than it was five years earlier in the late 1970s or early 1980s. And part of his restoration of the American economy and American morale is he wants to show the positive alternative of life in the free world.
