Would the Great Barrier Reef Grow Further Than Bundaberg?
Would the Great Barrier Reef grow to cover more square kilometers down the Queensland Coast stretching further than Bundaberg or like further north? Like would it expand more without all this human impact? So I think without question, the answer to that is no, it wouldn't. Coral reefs do offer protection against storm surges and some protection against extreme weather events such as cyclones. There are corals that grow further south but they're just not able to form reefs there because the sea bed isn't warm enough. As we're warming the climate, corals and tropical animals are being found further south.
