The Different Definitions of PPD

PPD is defined by a requirement of oxygen supplementation either at 28 days postnatal age or 36 weeks post menstrual age. In the old PPD we have evidence of hyperinflation and diffuse parenchymal infiltrate, fibrosis throughout the interstitium and significant pulmonary arterial fibroproliferative disease. The new PPD refers to abnormal or arrest in lung development.
