The Importance of Teaching Science
I respect those New Zealand scientists who have stood out against this trend. There can't be the case that there is scientific truths that only matter in New Zealand and nowhere else. I think perhaps education in Britain anyway sort of graduated from teaching Latin where a dead language was taught everybody had to learn Latin. It's a bit if you come from that sort of tradition then you might teach science in that sort of way. Another actually potentially more laudable way of approaching science which is to teach it as a practical subject, like non-stick frying pans.
