What's the Point of the Placida Trial?
By the end of the 19 eighties, treatments for h i v aids were emerging. But accessing those treatments in many parts of the world was a whole other issue. Under press from aides activists, Nelson mandella took a stand and challenged the big international pharmaceutical companies over the right to import cheaper versions of aids drugs. Bob howard has looked into this story, and he's with me now.
