Ira Herman, a genial fellow and a loose-fitting camel-colored cardigan who had his own notary stamp. His money was in units of real estate investment trusts owned by Estonian copies that were owned by Scottish companies. It was in LLCs that owned luxury flats and impossibly tall thin spires in New York and London. Transferring those assets was both simple and complex.
