The Rise of Trilateralism in Japan

The Obama administration had very little interest in pursuing better relations with Japan or trilateralism. Now all of that has sort of changed, you know, we have a Biden administration very interested in restoring American alliances and promoting Trilateralism. The thing I do worry about, though, is the lack of public opinion buy in to what's happening here at the high level, right? So you have this trilateral summit, but the concern that I hear, especially when I go to Seoul, and when I talk to sort of Japanese experts and officials is trilateralism that doesn't necessarily have buy in at the grassroots is going to be on shaky ground.
