In 1967, Martin Luther King was killed and riots broke out in 120 cities. Stokely Carmichael declared that white America had declared open war on blacks. Two days after King's death, Eldridge Cleaver went looking for Oakland Police to murder. The stories brought thousands more young angry recruits into the party.
