The Apple III's RTC Problem

Some of the chips sourced from National Semiconductor were broken. This can sometimes happen with batches of integrated circuits. If testing had been carried out, Apple would have noticed that they had some faulty chips. The RTC became a problem due to this rush. There just wasn't enough time to do things right and do them quickly.
