Nietzsche and the Enigma of Motion
Boscovich is the final element in Nietzsche's scientific thinking that we haven't yet covered. He attempted to solve the enigma of motion outside the framework of Newtonian explanation via the principle of action at a distance. Schopenhauer decried this highly controversial principle as another occult force, whereas Kant saw it as a threat to both God and Newton. The controversy around Boscovich was itself a dynamic and the larger cultural debate about spinism and encroaching materialistic atheism.
