The Power of Language Dynamics
I was born in Kenya and then I moved to Canada at a very young age. And this actually is something which is very linguistically interesting for me as well because the story of like language colonization has played out in my own life. The extent that I speak Swahili today is like in an L2 sense of having relearned it as an adult as opposed to as a native speaker. A lot of that has to do with even with English or French, there's this like pattern of the colonization of European languages over African languages,. Which is very personal and very real for me.
