I think there are a couple things. I do not doubt that trauma can shift brain chemistry, but that doesn't mean it is reducible to brain chemistry. There's also stuff of whether you can prophylactically guard people against trauma. One has responsibility to people who are not just the soldiers, the American soldiers, right? If one wants to talk about responsibility to the troops, okay then one has to talk about what kinds of reparations might be owed to the countries that you have destroyed.
