Jane Kowalski's 9-1-1 Message Wasn't Passed Along
Jane Kowalski thought she was witnessing a child abduction when she called 9-1-1 in Northport, Florida. The operator who took the call realised it was related to the Denise Amberley case and had been urgent. She hadn't entered the information into a computer database as per protocol. Instead, she'd called it out to police dispatchers who sat across the aisle from her and passed over a handwritten note. Charlotte County Sheriff's Department - same department that Denise's father worked for - failed to pass along the message. Two dispatchers were suspended for failing to send out patrol cars in response to the call,. One for 60 hours and the other for 36 years.
