The Price of Eggs Keeps Going Up
In the 19 seventies, suddenly all these government agencies are telling people to eat cheap stuff. Nixon appointed a guyd called earl butts as department of agriculture secretary. Earl butts went to american farmers and said, go big or go home. We need to do mass scae farming in order to bring costs down. The only problem with meat is that it's more expensive than other crops. It's almost like producing plastic goods - you can make them cheaper by using plastic fertilizer. And so we moved from small farms, ranches, a family of six who have a farm with a few cows and a few crops that they grow wand they sell in the local market.
