The Intimacy in Marriage Is Not Why We Sleep Together, It's the Other Way Around

When you sleep with someone, what's really happening? I want you to overlook for the moment and ignore the erotic or the sexual overtones that are implied when we say somebody slept with somebody. The act of sleeping together is precisely what produces the intimacy in the trust of marriage. And making oneself vulnerable, essentially you're saying, you know, I depend on you not to hurt me while I'm asleep. That's exactly what we are saying. It's quite a big thing.
