The Paraphrastic Fallacy
Critics, in areas like art, architecture, food critics, movie critics, wine critics, have to be poetic and have to be masters ye turns of phrase. A poem doesn't mean literal thing. A metaphor doesn't mean a literal thing. There's no mathogramatical way to change a metaphor or an art work into prose. So imagine a book on ceson the painter, but there are no images in it. It's all just prose descriptions of sasons paintings. You're not going to quite get at cason there. The chicago reader used to have great movie reviews. They did it through sarcasm. In one sentence, they could destroy a movie without a prose description
