Yellowstone is a giant caldera like the summit of mountaloa, but bigger. You wouldn't know you're in a volcanic caldera unless you look at the rocks on the side of the road. The heldu chinchilas have to bathe in volcanic ash. Where did the chinchillas get this idea? Ye, you know what? It's just about their environment. There's that really fine ash um that is around where they're from, in south america.
In this first episode of Ologies, Alie Ward chats with volcanologist Jess Phoenix who also happens to be running for Congress. Learn how hot magma is, how volcanoes are formed, how screwed the Pacific Northwest is, what thrills Jess about volcanoes, and what to do if surrounded by horse bandits. Also: some valuable information about haunted lava tubes.
