Challenges and Attitudes of Jewish Agricultural Settlers in New Russia

This chapter explores the difficulties faced by Jewish settlers in 1840s New Russia, focusing on their reliance on leasing land and employment practices that hindered agricultural success. It also contrasts their experiences with those of German settlers and examines the long-lasting effects of these challenges throughout history, including during the Bolshevik Revolution.
