The Choice of Socialism
The term socialist was a large umbrella that accommodated many under it. Seemingly far-flung points on the contemporary political spectrum saw themselves as socialist or socialist adjacent. Even Gandhians, like J.C. Kumarapah and Winobabhave, even the Hindu nationalist Jansang occasionally claimed some version of socialism as a goal. I'll go back to Mahalonabhis' joy which you bring out in his book of his excitement about computers.
Society cannot be designed in a top-down way. Central planning was a historic blunder that harmed India -- even though it was conceived by great men with good intentions.
