CHAPTER

The Uncertainty of AI

I find the whole question here to be almost unbearably speculative, right? That we're operating in a space of pretty radical uncertainty. A number of the most plausible and grounded ways that I could go wrong are also in certain ways at least spectacular, right? AI will be bad in the ways our current society is bad because it is trained in the data of our current society. And then as you get up the ladder to civilization ending harms or civilization threatening harms, you are working with obviously more speculative questions about how AI will develop. We need expertise and institutions and expertise in the correct institutions to have visibility on how artificial intelligence is developing.
