The Church's Statement on Spiritism

The Catechism is the most recent and authoritative statement, but there have been some previous ones. One of the most interesting was issued on March 30, 1898 by what was then known as the Holy Office. The basic idea is you let a Spirit move your hand so your hand moves and writes automatically without you deliberately moving it. It was widely used by mediums in the 19th century, and it's still used today.
