The Effects of Gravity on Muscle Growth
Astronauts are losing muscle and bone mass at a rate of around 2% per month. This is despite astronauts working out for three hours a day on the space station. The body feels gravity when you are asleep, so it compensates for some of this loss by using its own gravity to keep things in balance. There's no astronaut that goes for a year to space and comes back with the same bone mass and the same muscle tissue.
