The Problem of Inconsistent Models
The problem of inconsistent model is exactly the expression of this tension that i was describing earlier, namely m its usually presented as a challenge to any one who wants to defend a kind of realism about science. The starting point is the plurality scientific models in some areas of inquiry. And so the classical example that people have been developing in the lite goes back to a margaret morrison. She discusses different models for the nucleus. But what is really the nucleus? I to be a realist about the nucleus, and i get all these different models that tell me something apparently incompatible or inconsistent about what the nucleus is,. How can i ever defend realism about the nucleus?
