Are We All Disdisposed to Believe in Conspiracy Theories?
Ellen: There is something about control that is satisfying, right? I think this is part of the psychological appeal of conspiracy theories. But then it depends a lot on the conspiracy theory, right? Because if a conspiracy theory requires you to believe that there is such a vast network of secret agents working in tandem to rape and eat the children,. Then that very easily can turn hope into despair and resignation. How would you recommend talking to those who might believe in conspiracy theories? What are some effective ways of communicating with somebody when you don't share the same view of reality or don't agree on basic facts?
