I Don't Trust Elliptic Curves, Right?
I don't remember that being a common sentiment so much as the pervasive me asthma of ignorance about cryptography at the time. The math is not like a, I don't know how much there is to trust about it for elliptic curves? Yeah, just a basic idea of algebra. It's kind of nice. If you have high school algebra, you're good to go. With what we know now about elliptic curves and how things are tacked and all that,. You know, what's the stupid off the linear algebra attack on conventional tepe helm in the name of that stupid thing? "The reason why we have elliptic curve is it's not susceptible to the index calculus"
