We're used to living in a world where we have to basically barter between these 140 or so different currency unit systems. We just go with the currency that's the least bad which in this case is the us dollar and you know we assume that Bernanke or Powell or Yellen or all these folks are doing a good job because they prevent collapse or whatever. I would argue even if it's the right decision that prevents catastrophe for as long as possible what if you can't do that?
