There are Jewish synagogues across North Africa. Historians think that's where it began as Christianity began in most places. Christians believe they can detect a Jewish style to the rhetoric of Tertullian, the great figure of the first generation of Christianity in Carthage. It would have been fairly cosmopolitan in North Africa, especially as I said in the ports like Carthage, the major ports.
