Does Sociology Have Any Effects on Suicides?

Sociology has little to say on how frequent it is that people commit suicide out of intense pain, suffering, grief. Social factors shape one's ways of dealing with internal suffering. I imagine internal suffering predisposes one to use this reaction external problems and vice versa. Hard statistics on how many cases fall towards one side or the other are less certain.
