Is Monopoly Harmful?
The European Union has brought competition cases against Gazprom to try to increase competition for gas and reduce Europe's dependency on them. The US objected to huge corporate giants IBM and AT&T to sustained antitrust scrutiny in the late 90s. This is because of a concern that this again concentration of economic and political power, of corporate wealth had supported fascism in those two countries in the interwar period.
