The Challenge of Crime in America
In recent years, crime in this country has grown nine times as fast as population. The effects of the war on drugs were profound and long-lasting. In 1985 there were 9,500 people in federal prison on drug charges. By 2016, there were more than 85,000. Some defendants were charged under Len Bias Laws, which prosecuted those who had no intention of causing an overdose but tried to save their victims' lives.
