The Importance of Shorter Books
I feel like I'm seeing more shorter, more economically written novels as you describe them on the shelves today. And that's unusual for American publishing at least, right? I think Europe very commonly publishes very, very slim books, much slimmer than 250 pages. So I think it is a cool trend to see. But if there's one thing that makes readers unhappy, it's a book that they would describe as feeling padded just to make it long. Nobody loves that.
