People who have had amputations can experience phantom limb pain. This also has to do with how all of these nervesex ist in the body. There's definitely a big psychological component to pain. A study looked at soldiers and civilians that had been injured just in their normal, everyday life. Civilians reported more pain than the soldiers did. And we could argue that the soldiers have just experienced more pain, so they're a little bit more used to it.
