In 2012, researchers at the University of British Columbia did something really interesting. They found that the effect is cumulative and accretes power when users believe multiple people have their contact with the plan check. The idea is that if one person in that group is really thinking hard about the letter J, it may end up moving towards that J. And they did not know that there was no second person involved. It's fascinating stuff the way the parts of our minds work without our knowledge.
