Peter Bergen: I was working with an agent. This book got sold to a different publisher and I'm working on it nights and weekends, you know, while I'm doing my day job. And I finally have kind of the first part of the book to submit. It was just under 40,000 words. The editor who had bought the book had left. She gets a better job at another publisher so she's gone. Another editor basically comes on. It's now her book, but she doesn't really have as much invested in it. So I submit this first section to them and it is met with a very lukewarm response. They really had two huge criticisms of it
