I have some sympathies with canonical here because maintaining the universe repository for 10 years has a very considerable financial impact. This is old software without a massive amount of maintainorship happening upstream. I understand that there's a lot of effort that goes on behind the scenes and I think it's okay. It just feels like they need a professional asshole on the internet inside the company. Well, obviously I'd be perfect for it.
