i think we needto foreground the dialogical virtues. Opponent processing is a diological form of self correction, which is and therefore different then are reflective modes of self correction. Our most powerful cognitive prosthetics is other people - beyond any other tool. We very much indwell other people and then internalize them. That gives us our capacity for self transcendence.
