Not all interruptions are equal, and our perceptions of interruption varies by culture. Recognize or acknowledge the person that you're interrupting; use their name. People expect the higher status person to talk more in a conversation. The best way to contribute is not to take up more airtime but increase your ratio of insight to airtime.
