A God Has Come Into the Camp

The verb that goes with the word Elohim here is singular. Hofner writes, it is entirely possible that the Philistines when they were speaking used to plural verb since they were polytheists. So in verse seven, a God has come into the camp. You have Elohim with a singular verb, but it's still not, not wise to translate it capital G-O-D because of verse eight. That's the point here because the Philistine are clearly thinking polytheistically.
