The Great Level of Violence to Reduce Inequality

In antiquity, great outbursts of violence would massively reduce wealth inequality and enable some kind of new civilization to be born in the ashes of the old. The military technology we have is so destructive that any attempt at violent leveling would be absolutely catastrophic as well as immoral. That puts a restraint on the traditional ancient way of getting out of our kinds of problems.
