The aquera were known for trading in pearls, which is interesting because they are more or less right in the middle of the floridian peninsula. The spanish report that the aquera were very sceptical and resistant towards the christian gospel,. More so than other tribes. They had traditional religious or spiritual leaders, people that we might roughly call shamans - not an indigenous american term.
