Optimism Versus Pessimism?

I wonder how you think about optimism versus pessimism, given that the nature of your work is optimistic. I have to confess that I go through periods of deep, dark pessimism, where I'm really discouraged about the future. So I've got to be optimistic because I've got two children who want them to live in a world that's better. And so by its very definition, it's an optimistic book, right? Because if you're playing the infinite game, you believe the game is worth playing and worth playing infinitely.
