The Case of Mark Rich
The case against Rich was led for several years by Rudy Giuliani, who you may remember as Donald Trump's slightly eccentric lawyer. He managed to turn this case into front page news and in so doing, turned Mark Rich into public enemy number one. With the US government on his back, he ended up having to sell it to his management team in 1994. The terms of the deal have never been revealed, but it's estimated that Mark Rich made $600 million personally from the sale.
