In 2016, the Connecticut Supreme Court temporarily reinstated Michael's murder conviction after a court ruled that his legal representation at the trial was competent. But like the bouncy ball that this case is, the decision was reversed back very soon. And Michael's conviction was vacated again. On the 30th of October, 2020, the 45th anniversary of Martha Moxley's murder, the state of Connecticut announced that Michael Skacol would not be retried. The case once again went cold and Martha Moxly's killer walked free.
