The Cost of Maintenance and Repair in the Software Industry
In contrast to innovation, there are old technologies. About 60 to 80% of effort is spent on maintenance in the software industry. And I think that's even more true if we look at the automobile industry and think about mechanics. As we add things around us, whether it's a city building yet another bridge or road, those are things that are just going to require more maintenance and repair down the road.
